The 2026 cycle, milestone by milestone

Égides held the Presidency of Pride 7 through the French G7 year. Below is what the year produced, from the handover to the recognition of Pride 7 as a G7 engagement group.

  1. Late 2025

    Egale Canada transfers the Presidency of Pride 7 to Égides

    As France took over the G7 Presidency, the coordination of Pride 7 passed to Égides, the international francophone alliance for equality and diversities. Égides began working with Pride 7 members, their international partners and local civil society networks to build the year's recommendations.

  2. 2 March 2026 · Montréal / Paris

    Pride 7 calls on the G7 to respond to the expanded Global Gag Rule

    Pride 7 warned that the unprecedented expansion of the United States policy would silence organisations delivering life-saving services, and asked the G7 to condemn it, protect multilateral mechanisms from political pressure, and mobilise additional predictable funding. The statement was relayed internationally by ILGA World and APCOM.

  3. Spring 2026

    Publication of the Pride 7 Communiqué for France 2026

    Built with Pride 7 members across four thematic areas: democracy and legal frameworks, humanitarian action, economic sustainability and climate resilience, gender justice and health equity. Core asks included a fully funded 8th Replenishment of the Global Fund, protection of multilateral mechanisms from ideological and financial pressure, and explicit recognition of the rights of trans, non-binary and intersex people.

  4. 10 June 2026 · Palais de l'Élysée

    Pride 7 recognised as a G7 engagement group

    President Emmanuel Macron received the thirteen G7 engagement groups at the Élysée ahead of the Évian Summit. Pride 7 presented its recommendations and handed its communiqué to the President in person. In his closing remarks, the President recognised Pride 7 as a G7 engagement group, together with the defence of LGBTQI+ rights.

    This closed a demand carried by the movement since the group was founded in Tokyo in March 2023.

    Pride 7 in the official G7 France 2026 dossier

    Focus 2030 published an interview with Michaël Arnaud, Executive Director of Égides and Pride 7 representative, inside its reference dossier on the French G7 Presidency, alongside Women 7, Civil 7 and invited partner countries.

  6. 15 to 17 June 2026 · Évian-les-Bains

    The G7 Leaders' Summit

    Pride 7 pressed for its recommendations to be carried by France into the summit. Leaders adopted nine texts, three of them on development and global health. Analysts noted that the presidency favoured shared diagnoses over binding commitments, in a heavily polarised context.

  7. What comes next

    From recognition to a permanent seat

    Recognition secures the voice. The work now is to make it structural: a standing place for LGBTQI+ civil society in every G7 cycle, and funding that matches the role these organisations already play on the ground.
