The Pride7 (P7) is deeply saddened by the Islamist terrorist attack targeting Pride celebrations in Berlin. We also oppose any attempt to use this act of terrorism to incite hatred against Muslims. 

We stand in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ communities in Germany and around the world. Everyone deserves to celebrate Pride free from violence, hatred, and fear.

Germany has long demonstrated strong leadership on LGBTQIA+ human rights within the G7, alongside a vibrant civil society that has played an important role in the P7. Under Germany’s 2022 G7 Presidency, G7 communiqués included an unprecedented 21 references to LGBTIQ people—the strongest recognition of our communities in G7 commitments to date. The attack in Berlin is a stark reminder of why the commitments outlined in the 2026 Pride7 Communiqué remain so urgent.

We call on G7 governments and all countries to recognize the centrality of freedoms of speech and assembly to democratic institutions and the rights of minority communities; to denounce global trends restricting these freedoms; and to protect the peaceful celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride and demonstrations for rights, bodily autonomy, and equality.

Pride is an expression of community, visibility, freedom, and democratic participation. Those freedoms must be protected.

We extend our deepest condolences to those we have lost and to the communities they belonged to. We have always stood with them, and we will continue to walk alongside their communities in solidarity.
